HUMAN NATURE: How the media whitewash the face of capitalism.

Glossary of Major Distortions {Part One}
(NOTE: First published in 1982)
Originally: Cyrano’s Journal of Politics Media and Culture Wars
Capitalism is preferentially identified by its euphemisms: “Free Enterprise,” “market system,” “private enterprise.” “the American Way,” etc. Overt and pervasive partisanship in support of capitalism is not regarded by the American media as an ideological bias negating professional “objectivity” but rather as something akin to the serene acceptance of natural law.
Capitalism = human nature
By Patrice Greanville

THIS PROPAGANDA EQUATION is one of the oldest and most effective ideological weapons utilized in defense of capitalism. It pays off handsomely in a number of important ways. First, if capitalism is congruent with “human nature,” then the capitalist system must be the most “natural” and “logical” form of social organization, as people will have a built-in tendency to observe its basic rules. Second, “human nature,” as defined in bourgeois terms (which the press of course follows) is characterized by two significant traits:immutability and unalterable egoism.
.
The first “fact” automatically discourages most efforts at seriously reforming, let alone revolutionizing, society. Why should anyone bother if in the end the stubborn intractability of human nature will render all schemes for change and improvement of social conditions worthless and utopian? It’s evident that when sufficient numbers of people are made to believe that an eternal, immutable and invincible “human nature” will time and again scuttle the best-laid plans and the costliest sacrifices for change, then most threats to the status quo will be defanged at the outset.

A man walks his dog past tsunami debris in the town of Minamisanriku,
Miyagi prefecture, April 23, 2011.

The earthquake and tsunami that walloped Japan left much of its coastline ravaged, but left one thing intact: the Japanese reputation for honesty.

 In the five months since the disaster struck, people have turned in thousands of wallets found in the debris, containing $48 million in cash. More than 5,700 safes that washed ashore along Japan's tsunami-ravaged coast have also been hauled to police centers by volunteers and search and rescue crews. Inside those safes officials found $30 million in cash. One safe alone, contained the equivalent of $1 million.

The National Police Agency says nearly all the valuables found in the three hardest hit prefectures, have been returned to their owners. "In most cases, the keyholes on these safes were filled with mud," said Koetsu Saiki with the Miyagi Prefectural Police. "We had to start by cutting apart the metal doors with grinders and other tools." Determining who the safes belonged to, proved to be the easy part. Saiki says most kept bankbooks or land rights documents inside the boxes, containing their names and address. Tracking the owners down, was much more challenging.

"This is a reality that soldiers are faced with, that the people or Iraq and Afghanistan are faced with, that children are faced with, that the people who are living inside those houses are faced with every single day at the hands of my brothers and sisters.

What you can't see is the hundreds of civilians inside their homes, cowering under their tables, under their beds. What you can't see is the children, that after these troops leave, who can't sleep at night. What you can't see is the raw sewage flowing into the streets from where the tanks have run over the sewage lines.

"Alleged" Parcel-bomb mastermind revealed

In original video from AlJazeera the title did not carry the word "alleged", however words uttered in the vid clearly stated the it is still in the "alleged" stage. Unfortunately AlJazeera as a main stream media is also guilty of advocating Islamophobia! This is another case of trial by the media, the heading appears to be guilty as charged....before any official charge and trial...the reports appears to be like mere sensationalized stories. Watch & listen to the Vid:

AlJazeeraEnglish | November 01, 2010 - US and Yemeni authorities have named the man they believe to be the mastermind of the parcel bombs plot. They have issued photographs of Saudi Arabian born Ibrahim al-Asiri. He is thought to be al-Qaeda's top explosives expert in Yemen.

On the Edge with Max Keiser-US Stock Markets.

PressTVGlobalNews | October 23, 2010 - This program is about the bursting of the predictions that bubble in the stock markets. The guest, Rick Ackerman, says that the market is very fragile and it is inherited from the past economic mistakes. The US government is blamed for creating such mammoth bubble by helping the creditors after the 2007 financial crisis. If debtors and foreclosure-hit house owners were aided, today the economy would be back on its feet.

The US housing market and fraud allegation is also a hot-button issue in this program. The guest says the dollar would finally collapse and such a collapse would be sudden, without any advance warning. He is, however, upbeat about the future of resource-based countries like Canada and Australia.
