Thai army crackdown scatters protesters

AlJazeeraEnglish — May 19, 2010 — On Wednesday an army crackdown led to many red shirt supporters giving themselves up, facing jail terms for defying the state of emergency introduced by the government.

For the military the operation was a success with relatively few casualties resulting from the crackdown and none where the main body of supporters were staying.

The red shirts have left but they still have their grievances, something that the government will have to address to avoid a repeat of the battle of Bangkok.
